Idols Live Show 2: 80’s

Big hair, weird outfits and killer songs; that is what most people remember the 80’s for. It was this weeks theme and yet again it was highly disappointing except for the current favorites. Which is also why I won’t have much to say about it except for the candidates that actually did do a good job.

Performances

All performances can be seen at http://www.idols.nl. At the top you can see all candidates, click on one of them and you will be taken to their page, scroll down a little and you will be able to see all of their performances; the top link is the latest and is indicated with ‘LiveShow’ and it’s accompanying week number.

Pauline (Footloose - Kenny Loggins)
She could have done better. Way better.

Neil (fsdfsd)
Disappointing, very tight sounding voice.

Charlene (Stop Loving You - ToTo)
One of two who actually did well. You don’t expect a mature sounding voice like that at her age (born 1988).

Ollie (Gold - Spandau Ballet)
He was slightly better then others, but still a very disappointing performance.

Nathalie (Eternal Flame - The Bangles)
They told her to ‘pipe it down’

Bas (Still Haven’t Found - U2)
I am going to say it again, disappointing. I know this is the theme for this live show but that is what it was.

Tiffany ()
She was okay, not one of her better ones, but she did okay.

Nigel (Club Tropicana - Wham)
It was a step up from last week. That’s all

Mirjam (Total Eclipse of the Hear - Bonnie Tyler)
I did not thought it was quite as bad as everyone said it was, but she has certainly done a better job in the past.

Asnat (Let’s Hear it For the Boy - Deniece Williams)
More refreshing then the others. The style of the song suits her, but not the actual song itself.

Nikki (Tell It To My Heart - Taylor Dayne)
She saved an entire evening of bad performances. Her voice comes better out in the R&B/Soul category but she covered the song quite well. One of two who actually did well.

The results

Like last week the quality was below average. Only a couple exceeded and actually performed quite well.

The candidates who are going through to the next Live Show are (in order of being called, which is, as last week, random)

  • Charlene
  • Nikki
  • Tiffany
  • Pauline
  • Nathalie
  • Asnat
  • Neil
  • Bas
  • Nigel
  • Mirjam

Which means Ollie had to go and that they have just broken up the newest ’showbiz’ couple. Since last week Tiffany and Ollie have been an item and now Tiffany has to do without her man for the time she is still with the live shows.

My top three for this show were Charlene, Nikki and Asnat.

On To Next Week

Coming up: Dutch Songs.
