Mischa Barton was arrested for misdemeanor driving under the influence after her car was stopped by sheriff’s deputies early Thursday morning in West Hollywood.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said the former star of “The O.C.” was taken into custody at about 2:45 a.m. after deputies saw her car straddling two lanes of traffic and failing to signal while making a turn.

The 21-year-old actress was being held in a West Hollywood jail on $10,000 bail. She was arrested for investigation of misdemeanor driving under the influence and driving without a license. Calls to her manager and publicist weren’t immediately returned.

Barton played Marissa Cooper on “The O.C.” from 2003 to 2006.

Reading something like this really makes me wonder if these girls, who call themselves so mature and grown up but prove time after time that they can’t think to save their lives, even have the slightest idea of what they are doing. These young actresses and singers are the people that kids around the globe look up too. And this is the example kids nowadays get.

Young actresses and singers getting drunk, pregnant or doped up. And then we find it strange that kids start having sex at a younger age, get drunk barely older then ten years old or find it normal to do whatever the hell they like. Of course every generation has their misfits and Mischa Barton is just one in the long line of people who did these kind of things. But in our society she is also one of the people that has a leading role in kids lives mostly due to her role in the OC.

I know everyone makes mistakes, but in my opinion drunk driving is just plain stupid. Either you drink or you drive, but you don’t do both. There are enough ways to get home safely without getting into a car.

Be proud of yourself, be very proud.
