The L Word – 5×8 Lay down the law

Okay so as Chantal said I had no internet last week so no chance of posting a review for episode 8. So as promised here is the first part of my review. Like with any other episode I am writing a separate review for both of the episodes.
Let me start this off with saying that it finally has been officially confirmed that there will be a sixth season. It will start on Sunday January fourth 2009. So we have something to look forward to. And with this news finally being confirmed I have to give some of the credits to Paris Hilton. People who have read my other reviews know why I am saying that. Please don’t make me repeat it.
Episode 8 started off weird, it started with that person on the bike breaking and entering and shooting perps. For a couple of seconds I wondered if I was even watching the right show. And then I was afraid that they where again going to add a strange disconnected scene like the one where Kit was robbed. I was glad to see that fortunately it was just a ‘film’ scene.
Spoiler warning!
In general I wanted to say that I am glad that they still remember Dana, even if it is just by mentioning the ‘pink ride’. That is more then you get in most shows where a character dies.
Tina Kennard and Bette Porter
Don’t keep dancing around it, everyone can see it. Bette you have to tell Jodi what the heck is going on. It is unfair, and she deserves better … way better.
Jodi Lerner
By the way you just have to love Jodi for her answer when Bette’s asks her if it ever occurred to her to ask Bette if she could invite Tina. And she just answers flat out ; “No.” That really cracked me up.
You know, the woman doesn’t know what’s going on between Tina and Bette. And the fact that she still doesn’t know after that excruciating Moroccan dinner party is almost unbelievable. Of course she can’t hear but the looks that shot over the table between Tina and Bette where so obvious.
I feel sorry for the woman, I like her and for her to be kept in the dark like that. It feels really unfair and I know that sounds weird because I want to see Bette and Tina back together so badly. A lot of things on the show somehow manage to pull me into two opposite directions.
Shane McKutcheon
Shane at the comment from ‘Movie Shane’ that she sleeps with everyone; “Please, who told you that.” In a very surprised voice … that coming from the person who has been around the block more then once sounds a bit weird.
Kit Porter
Kit Porter, we haven’t seen a lot from her this season. And at this moment every other word that comes out of her mouth is ‘she-bitches’.
Jenny Shecter
The snot rant, that was so flat out Jenny again. What can you say, everything has to be just like Jenny wants it or it won’t happen at all. Directing the movie shows that in every way, and I feel for Tina because she has to put up with all of Jenny’s shit, and that is a lot. You might wonder if Tina ever gets anything else done besides trying to keep Jenny happy and trying to keep everything in order.
I do have to say that I felt sorry for Jenny when she found out that Nicky had cheated on her. No one deserves that, not Jodi and not even Jenny. It is cruel and hurtful.
Alice Pieszecki and Tasha Williams
The first day Alice just sat there until they told her that there was no time to interview her that day and was requested to come back the next day. Unbelievable the way people are being treated when it comes to these kind of things.
Alice took a gamble when she started to tell them what she thought of the situation. Alice was right with what she said of course, about the whole ‘knowing one lesbian so you must be a lesbian’ speech. It just doesn’t seem like the way to go in a situation like this. But the angry reaction of that Davis’ woman showed that she was on the right track. Maybe she should introduce her to Joyce or Phyllis.
But the moment that Tasha came running out of the courthouse with that huge grin and that funny jump when she turned to look at Alice. The world seemed a little brighter at that moment, a happier place.
So I am a girl, but not the girly kind of girl that squeals a lot. But seriously, that last scene where came running out of court with that huge grin on her face saying that she had won. Totally made me squeal! I loved it!!! I was so happy when that happened, it was such an endearing and sweet moment. That scene was just perfect; especially because it was in that military setting, and they both didn’t give a shit about the people around them. Anyway just thinking about that scene makes me want to squeal again. I loved it!
