The L Word – 5×9 Liquid heat

The L Word

‘Liquid heat’ this episode was HOT! In more ways then one; there was hot weather, heated discussions, hot items, raging hormones and hot, hot, hot, hot sex scenes. That makes a ‘hot’ per scene because they all deserved it.

Spoiler warning!

Jenny Shecter

She was freaking out, well this time she had good reason to freak out. No one deserves to be cheated on, and certainly not when you find out that way. That must be excruciating, I actually felt sorry when Jenny had to apologize to the actor boy.

And even that is not the worst thing about it, Adele’s betrayal. Jenny trusts her 100 percent, and she deceves her each and every time but what she did this time is really bad. Kissing Nikki, while pretending to her to be Jenny. That is low, really low even for a clone.

Jodi Lerner and Bette Porter

Bette and Jodi get home to Bette’s house and Jodi steps into the pool clothes on and all. While Bette chooses to undress while she is on the phone with Tina. Then there is of course that scene where Jodi initiates sex with Bette, but Bette declines saying that it is too hot. She then gets up when Jodi asks her what’s going on and she turns her back and says ‘I am in love with Tina’. She is such a coward! She knew exactly that Jodi wouldn’t be able to hear her. And then she blames her mood swings on work. Very cowardly, the least thing that Jodi deserves is being treated like a someone she cares about.

Shane McKutcheon

Shane and her straight girl crush, seriously will there ever be a woman that doesn’t fall for Shane? It is a question that I have wondered about many times.

The She-bar Maffia

Dawn Denbo totally lost her grip on reality especially when she makes the comment about how they could have been great friends … okay, while she has been sabotaging everything ever since her lover Cindi and Shane had sex. She never even for a second doubted her girlfriend but she put all the blame on Shane and took it out on ‘The Planet’ and ‘Lez Girls’. Finally after some bitching over the table from Denbo towards any of the other women Bette gets up and starts negotiation between the two teams and finally gets somewhere. Only the future can show us what will really happen, with Dawn Denbo and her lover Cindi you never know.

Alice Pieszecki

Alice who makes the podcast in which she apologizes to Max, I really liked that cause in my opinion Alice said some pretty fucked up things about Max. The way that Shane was operating the camera was really funny, she was doing everything except for filming what she was supposed to film. I don’t like what Alice said and especially the fact that it was her who said it. I mean bisexual women are frowned upon a lot of times and I am pretty sure that Alice doesn’t like that in fact I remember the comment about looking for ‘the same qualities in a man as in a woman’ in season one. And the male who identified as a lesbian she once dated and this woman makes a comment like that about Max … So I was glad that she did that podcast though I am not really sure if she meant her excuse.

Alice Pieszecki and Tasha Williams

Cute, cute, cute … I know you probably shouldn’t call a ‘Captain’ cute but she is. Especially that laugh of hers and she is so damn sexy! Together with Alice, I think she really makes a great couple and I hope that they will continue to stay a couple although with this show and with Alice you never know.

Shane McKutcheon and Molly Kroll

Phyllis will love this was the first thing I thought when that scene started and by the end of that particular scene we knew just how much she loved it. That scene was hot, like the other sex scenes. I can’t help it I really loved how they showed all of those scenes at the same time. All in the same style going from one over into the other perfectly.

Shane was being a true teacher when she said to Molly that she would show her one more time. And then she saw her mother standing in the door way. That must be your worst nightmare!

And there is Mrs. ‘I-found-out-after-50-something-years-that-I’m-gay’ telling her daughter that she isn’t gay … that is calling the kettle black isn’t it.

Jenny Shecter and Nikki

Their make up sex scene was good too, and it felt a little like pay back that they where doing it right there where earlier that day Jenny found out that Nikki had cheated on her. In a way I guess that it gave Jenny closure to what happened earlier. I think that she really is in love with Nikki.

Tina Kennard and Bette Porter

The self therapy cracked me up in the elevator. It kind of reminded me of the therapy session scene ‘Mr and Mrs Smith’ with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. I am not sure why cause they are not really comparable but that is what it made me think of.

Oh my God! That was extremely hot! That scene in the elevator, at first Bette was being Bette on the verge of a freak out when the elevator stopped. Since I have a light form of claustrophobia I can understand why she freaked especially with the heat. But after she is calmed down and after talking for a while they have steamy hot sex. Doesn’t sex make it even hotter, and wasn’t that the reason why she didn’t want to have sex with Jodi by the pool. I am pretty sure that it was a lot cooler next to the pool then it was in the elevator but that is besides the point.

It was an extremely hot scene, in fact the three/four sex scenes that where showed were all really hot.

I had to laugh when I saw that last scene in the elevator when the lights go on and it starts moving again. The way they where correcting their ruffled clothes and then the scene where they said ‘I love you’ to each other that was cute.

I feel the need to share something I noticed!

Max Sweeney

I feel the need to share something regarding Max Sweeney, this past week after the sex scene with the interpreter guy I read a lot of comments from people online and there is something that bothered me. A lot.

We ‘as gay people’ like to be accepted for who we are. Right? That is always the big issue, isn’t it? Anyway we want to be accepted for what we like but we can’t grant that same respect for someone who has even more screwed up feelings then we have. Apparently not. And that bugs me, it bugs me so much that I really feel the need to post this rant.

Max is a complicated character maybe one of the most complicated on the show. When she came into the show Daniella Sea portrayed a woman who wanted to be a man. Then she started to actually transform to a man and took hormones to achieve the changes that she wanted. Her voice dropped, bulked up, got aggressive and became a real asshole. This season Max has been a far more likable character, at least from my point of view.

The problem is that when you chance the person inside and outside that you get conflicting situations. When she was still Moira she identified as a very tomboyish girl who liked girls. We’ll after the who debacle with the hormones everything got pretty much screwed up and he is now Max. But since he is not getting the surgery done he will always be a boy with girl parts. What does that make you? A freak? Maybe, but still a person. A person who wants to be loved. And who needs love just as much as everyone else. And I think that in this case the fact that the interpreter guy takes him for who he is without caring about the physical stuff is way more important then anything else.

And that is my point, even though we are different we want to be accepted by a straight society but when someone with even more conflicted feelings in an even more fucked up situation which is even more difficult to handle comes along we don’t grant him that same right.

We say that it is all of the sudden weird that he chooses to sleep with a guy. Which is not that weird considering that there was that Billy person last season. It is hormones he has been messing with, that and the fact that for a time he took way too much could have changed a lot of things for him physically as well as mentally. And maybe he does like guys now, so what?

Does that really mean that we need to have to discus ‘how’ he was having sex with the interpreter guy? I don’t think so, he was having sex and he seemed to like it. What is the problem, it was between consenting adults.

It amazes me how we can question transgender people with the exact same questions, straight people question us about. Aren’t we the kind of people that should be open minded and don’t give a damn about those kind of questions?
