In my opinion there is too little femmeslash as it is or maybe I should say there are too little gay rolemodels for women.
In my opinion there is too little femmeslash as it is or maybe I should say there are too little gay rolemodels for women. Especially on television, of course there are television shows like ‘The L Word’, ‘South of Nowhere’ and ‘Hex’ with mainly or at least prominent lesbian characters. But two of those shows already stopped and ‘The L Word’ will only have another 8 episodes next year and then it is over also.

The International Day of Femslash is a day of celebration

On the 19th July, 2008, the on-line femslash community has an opportunity to raise its head high and proclaim to the world its delight in all things femslash. Whether you’re a seasoned writer, with hordes of ardent fans, or a timid newcomer, you have the chance to make your voice heard and to help put femslash well and truly on the map.

Simply post your stories, videos, graphics, essays, poems or other femslash related works to an archive, community, group or forum on 19th July, 2008, to show your support. Where you choose to post your creative efforts is up to you; although, we do hope to gather together an extensive list of web-sites, lj communities, Yahoo Groups and forums which support our efforts, but feel free to post widely to wherever femslash is welcome.

For too many years, femslash has been treated as the distant cousin to the het and slash king and queen of fandom, so this is our opportunity to demonstrate to ourselves, as much as anyone else, that we are a force to be reckoned with.
Spread the word.

Our aim is to provoke a positive avalanche of femslash material from across a wide range of fandoms, languages and geographical locations. However, the only way we’re going to manage to do this is if everybody pulls together and not only posts on the day, but spreads the word beforehand so that as many people as possible are aware of the event.
Show your support.

A large selection of banners, icons and other graphics have already been produced and are available for you to download and display on your web-site, blog or forum. You can also add your site, forum, community or group to the list of those supporting the International Day of Femslash and let potential contributors know that they are more than welcome to submit or post their works for inclusion on the day. If you plan to post a contribution to the deluge of femslash we’re expecting, why not sign up now and show your support? Then spread the word to all your friends and encourage them to join.

This is indeed a celebration. So come and join the fun.

Saturday, 19th July, 2008.

I admit it. I was scared to watch this last episode. Scared to see how Ilene decided to end the season. I have to say that I personally liked this season a lot, yes I have enjoyed myself. I have heard mixed messaged about these past twelve episodes. I have no real idea of what people think of this season in general. Maybe I should create a poll and ask people for their opinion. Could be an interesting thing to do.

Spoiler warning!

That first scene where they suggest that the movie needs to change the ending sucks. I mean that is what happens when you make it a mainstream movie again. There is nothing wrong with being gay. At least in the year 2008 there shouldn’t be. I am glad that there is a channel like ‘Showtime’ who aren’t bad to give us shows like ‘Queer as Folk’ and ‘The L Word’. Though I would not necesarilly use them as role models I do want to say that it is good to see on screen what we feel inside.

Tina Kennard and Bette Porter

The car scene is cute, Angie in the background and Bette being all insecure about where Tina and she stand in the relationship. I was really surprised by Bette’s question later on in the episode where she asks Tina if Angie should get a baby brother or sister. I mean they are at the point of rekindling and she is ready to drop straight in, head first. It is always the same with Bette it is either everything or nothing at all. There is nothing in between, not with her.

For once Tina is the one to pick up the pieces after Bette has fallen apart at the unveiling of Jodi’s latest work of art. Bette could have seen that one coming, she hurt Jodi deeply.

That dance scene is totally cute! Oh my God, they look so good together. Funny to see their alter ego’s Bev and Nina watching them as they dance together. They are in the unique position to see where their characters end up.

Helena Peabody

Oh my God! Let me have my fan girlish squeal here please! AAAAHHHHH Helena!!!! Okay thank you. I have to say that I already squealed when I noticed Holland Taylor’s name with the guest stars. I love that woman, I think that her recurring guest role along with Lara are my favorite. So I was already loving the episode when I saw her name, when that woman is around trouble follows close enough.

And surely Mama Peabody had hardly entered the screen before her jailbird daughter followed. It was so lovely to hear that British accent. I missed that in the show I really did and hearing it totally unexpected is so much better then knowing beforehand. Yes it is true I stayed completely spoiler free during the whole season I had no idea that she was coming back. I really hope that she will be back next year, she belongs with that cast and in my opinion she should be there for the ending.

Gotta love the fact that they are bringing Peggy Peabody into the hospital by a helicopter because she might be dying after being stung by a jelly fish and the first thing she complains about when she sees her daughter are her clothes. Now I know that Helena didn’t look the way that she did a while ago, when all she cared about was designer bags, designer boots, big bungalows with a sea view and money.

The fact that Peggy Peabody told Helena to use her money to help Kit out and Helena who reacted by saying that her mother had told her previously to not try and buy friendship made me laugh. It was funny, that is what happened before and the way that she said so easily buy your friend a nightclub, buy her two.

The fact that she got back at Dawn Denbo through ‘her lover Cindi’ that is a classic. It was the best moment when Helena got into Denbo’s face and told her ‘She’s with me!’. I loved it! That bitch needed to be put back in her place a long time ago and it was awesome that she came back to do that.

Finally Cindi dared to stand up against Dawn, what a screwed up relationship they have. And Helena kicked ass ‘Rich bitch Helena style’. Awesome!

Shane McKutcheon

Shane who wants to go to school … what did she have all the women on her block and is she now going to devour every girl at the campus?

Alice Pieszecki

Alice, Alice, Alice what where you thinking? You really wonder how many times she needs to see bad examples of broken relationships around her. Alice is right by what she says to Shane, that no one works for their relationships anymore. That a lot of people move on without even trying.

At the same time Shane is right too, Alice deserves happiness and if she can’t find that with Tasha then it is her right to move on. But I remember also that just last week they where looking for a place together.

Tasha Williams
So you are in the army, you quite for whatever reason and you decide to go into the security business. Now I can see where that seems to be a good choice. But someone who has done 1 or 2 tours and who is on edge and ready to go at minutes notice, could never honestly be a security guard. In my honest opinion that is, when I saw her pull on that uniform it didn’t surprise me at all. But unless something happens during your shift, like a break in or whatever it seems to be the lamest job in the world.

I can’t imagine someone with Tasha’s knowledge and resume to work that job and to be content with it on the other hand I can understand that a company would want to hire someone with her knowledge and resume. Tasha signing up for the Police Academy ( okay that makes me think of those crazy movies back in the eighties and early nineties ) sounds more like her thing. It fits her better, I could really see her work as a cop.

Jodi Lerner

Well Bette could have been able to see that train wreck coming from a mile away. Of course Jodi was hurt, humiliated and devastated. She just wanted to make Bette feel the way that she does. Sure Bette might feel fucked up over what happened. But at the same time Bette is rekindling with Tina, getting her family back together. Something that she wanted all along.

Stupid Bette, I mean did she really think that she could just walk in there and act as if nothing happened between her and Jodi. As if nothing changed.

Adele Channing

Adele is showing her true colors finally.

Kit Porter

“You can go home or you could stay you could do the dishes … the floor, we got a lot of glasses to pick up.”

That was Kit’s best one liner this episode. Again she had a pretty passive role throughout the whole episode, she was there but she would not really be a miss if she wasn’t there.

Phyllis Kroll

The relationship between Phyllis and Molly is one of interest. Of course someone like Phyllis doesn’t like someone like Shane for their daughter especially not when test scores, being the top 2 percent and scholarships are the most important thing.

Phyllis was the one who had a flirt kind of thing with Alice, that was weird. And now that Shane is dating with Molly she is telling her to stay away from Molly. At the same time so far Shane has been the one who defended Phyllis in front of her daughter.

Max Sweeney

Max just like Kit did not really seem to have a function this season. Nothing particularly interesting has happened to him. It is a shame, it could be such and interesting character, that they could explore a lot of different

Jenny Shecter

I might not like Jenny but these last two episodes where brutal on her. I mean she get fired from the movie, screwed over by her girlfriend. Her assistant takes her job ( and does a better job at it ) and her best friend decides that it is okay to fuck her ex girlfriend. That is heartless, especially from someone who you consider to be your best friend.

The future

It makes me wonder, eight more episodes next year? And with the questions that where still unanswered and the situations as they are right now it is kind of fun to speculate.

Will Angie get a baby sister or brother? Maybe … if we jump ahead in time a couple of months like they did the other season we might see if she will. Which calls for a new question, who will be the birth mother this time? It leaves endless possibilities and the questions might be answered next year or they are not. Who will survive the next eight episodes together and which relationships will crash and burn?

And last but not least will the fans be satisfied by what they get? I wonder … I really hope that we won’t get a repeat of season 3. I loved every other season, just season 3 is still a sore spot in each fans eye. And I know from various sources that there are still a lot of people who are not at all happy wit the show and with Ilene Chaiken’s decisions.

Only one more episode left for this season, I already feel saddened by that, it means that there are only nine episodes left until there is no more ‘L Word’. I personally will miss it, luckily I have the dvd’s to watch.

Spoiler warning!

Seriously if ‘the L Word’ was anything like ‘Lez Girls’ I could not watch it! That first part of the L word where you could see the ‘throw-over-the-table’ scene between Bev and Nina was just horrible. Only in Jenny’s brain people can make up that quickly.

Jenny Shecter

‘Ladies, ladies please don’t fight I can’t stand it when sisters do that.’ What the fuck!!! That woman should seriously just shut up. Tina’s comment to that was to funny and right on. It was obvious that everyone was annoyed by the whole situation with Bette, Tina and Jodi.

Jodi Lerner and Bette Porter

The conversation between Jodi and Bette was mind blowing. In my opinion that is of course. The way that they where trying to the center or their feelings with all they could. There where such tense moments between the signing, talking, lip reading, the screaming everything. Trying to fight to keep Bette with her and finally the question to Bette to please have some respect.

And then later on there was the talk between the two of them where Bette was mostly talking and Jodi well ehm … lip reading. I guess that it was a moment where Bette showed a lot of herself. Finally she was honest about what happened. Still it is pretty bad the way that she is talking to Tina on the phone. I mean not the fact that she turns around and talks to Tina, but more so what she says to Tina about the fact that Jodi is still there. She really takes advantage of the fact that Jodi can’t hear her anyway and in my opinion that is just plain rude.

Adele Channing

And there is finally Adele’s true self. All say sorry to Max because he was right all along, thank you Max for trying to tell us that Adele was not being honest about ehm … anything.

It surprised me that Jenny said to Niki, she did not mention a name she only said ‘someone got a hold of that tape that we made’. Any other person would have said that it was Adele, well at least I think they would have but she decided that she didn’t want to name Adele. I wonder why, I really do especially after Adele ruined her beloved project.

Tina Kennard

Finally Jenny and Tina came to an agreement on ‘their movie’. Finally they are on the same side instead of against each other, and at long last they agree on who’s the bitch. Thing is though when I see Adele directing I personally see a talent. But is it really her directing skills or is it that there finally is ‘peace’ at the set? I don’t know.

Shane McKutcheon

Shane stayed with Jenny, which was to be expected they are after all best friends. And I really think that Jenny needed her the most at that moment.

So when you are down you smoke a water pipe? I thought that when you are down drugs could possibly make those negative feelings stronger. Really smart thinking to smoke a water pipe then. But the conversation that they have is one between true friends I guess. Though I would not want my friend to quite her job for me, never.

Alice Pieszecki and Tasha Williams

Searching for an apartment or a house is not easy … believe me I know everything about that. It is a total dumb and you can afford it, or it is way too expensive and you can’t afford it. Tasha said that the house was eight times what she pays for her apartment. A comment like that makes me wonder in what kind of a closet she lives, cos it surely can’t be any bigger then that or how much of a dump it is. I mean eight times what you pay for an apartment …

Kit Porter

Cute how they all have the same ringtone, I take that it is Angie who is saying ‘You have a phone call’ that is cute! Any way, Kit had a ‘saved by the bell’ moment there, lucky her.

Kit, Kit, Kit what are you doing, I know that the Denbo bitch and her lover Cindi where nasty to you. But the gun, really did you need to take the gun with you? Seriously how could you be so dumb! And then to let Angie find it? God knows what could have happened. Especially when you know that the woman owns a freaking gun case … I would really like to smack her for letting that gun lay around loaded and all for Angie to find.

To be honest I really don’t see the reason for the whole Kit storyline this year. Last year her role had a storyline this year it is just random scenes and one-liners.

When Tina and Bette came in all I could think was if they only knew what was prevented. First off of course what Kit could have done to Dawn Denbo and her lover Cindi and secondly what could have happened to Angie. But the fact that they have no idea what almost happened seconds before and they where able to go home as a family that they should be was worth a lot. That last scene was so cute. I loved it! That was a good ending.

This is the second time I watched this particular episode and I have the next one ready to go. And to be honest I am scared to watch the season finale.

The sixth season has officially been confirmed, but there will only be 8 more episodes. At least there have only been eight requested by Eline Chaiken. She thinks that she can wrap all the storylines up in eight episode. So in exactly one year, ‘The L Word’ will be history. It has been quite a trip, I can tell you that.

Spoiler warning!

Tina Kennard and Bette Porter

Tina being the all frustrated director, when she spotted Jenny and Nicky. “I quit, I fucking quit.” I loved that part, it was so funny, the way that she was acting all dramatic and the others couldn’t care less about her. The way that she threw her hands up in the air, I am pretty sure that if she wasn’t wearing those sunglasses you could have seen her eyes roll.

Then there was of course that talk when they where riding their bikes, the talk about Tina not wanting Jodi to know about Tina and Bette fooling around behind her back. I mean seriously did they think they could hide it? The two of them, not in a million years not even if they tried.

That just had to go south … of course they would be caught. There bound is too strong to hide.

Bette can follow simple instructions, even though I haven’t seen the manual I am pretty sure it didn’t say fall on your ass! By the way did you see translator guy and Max laugh at her?

Typically how Jodi walked away from Bette when she bitched at her that she could follow some simple instructions only to end up helping Tina with her tent.

Shane McKutcheon and Molly Kroll

Can someone please explain that to me? The cute university girl and the uneducated hairdresser, because I don’t get it. Sure I get it when it is a fling, I mean Shane had flings in all shapes and sizes ( okay that is not true it where always cute girls but still completely different girls then this one ) and they are in a relationship now? I really can’t see it … not at all.

Ow yes something that I wondered about was when Jenny asked if Shane could do something about her stalker because she had been following them for 30 miles, then Shane replies that she still had 170 miles to go … what? Really are they riding 200 miles? That is an aweful lot …

Getting a doctorate in ‘fucking gay’, that rant is so funny! Haha if someone is standing like that in front of you, wouldn’t you just react the same way Shane does? I would … but then again, it is Shane and happy bliss when it comes to love never lasts long. And she is no Carmen … We’ll see where it goes, but Shane’s track record isn’t that good.

Shane said to Molly ‘no more pink’. Did you see that Barbie bike that she was riding on! Pink shirt, pink bike all she was missing was a peroxide blonde wig!

Jenny Shecter, Nikki and Adele

Poor Jenny her pussy was numb after 30 miles … imagine what it must feel like after 200! But then again that night with Nikki she didn’t seem to have a problem at all. Remarkable recovery!

Adele, taking care of everything … and when I say everything I mean everything. What the hell was that tent about. That was ridiculous!

And using that camera? Hello sex scandal! Tomorrow freely available on the world wide web. And there is the connection to Paris Hilton. Makes me wonder, do Jenny and Nikki meet her in a ‘I’ve-been-involved-a-celeb-sex-scandal meeting’?

Poor Tina and here she thought that she was freaking out this week, imagine what it is like in the next episode, she probably wishes that she had quit before it even started.

Alice Pieszecki and Tasha Williams

That laugh. Tasha Williams’ laugh isn’t that the cutest laugh you ever heard!

To be honest I was quite surprised by the comment that Tasha made. Okay I agree, sex is cheating and in my opinion kissing is too. But thinking, that I can’t see as cheating cause that would mean that if you are in a relationship and you watch a movie and you think ‘Wow that’s a hotty!’ that you are cheating? That is weird, I can’t believe that she would never look at someone and think something like that.

Wow! Alice and Tasha where having a serious talk! The future, kids and all that, that is the really serious stuff and so soon. But then again when you say that even thinking is cheating you might as well cover all bases as soon as possible, I guess.

Kit Porter

Is Kit still acting? Oh she is … sorry I thought she was merely there to put in a good one liner or two during the show. It would have been good if she had some bigger scenes especially when it comes to the whole Tina-Bette-Jodi triangle thing. I think that she should have pushed Bette more to come clean about what she was doing with Tina.

Team Dana

It was good to see them all standing there paying their respects once more to Dana. The one that we lost way too early on the show. It was good to see them all standing there even the people who never knew her. Dana, I still miss her, I liked her character a lot. And I guess that in a way she reminded me of myself.

It is good to see that they still remember Dana Fairbanks, you know it always annoys me to no end when a beloved character dies/leaves a show and the other people continue life as though they where never there. At least with ‘The L Word’ we have seen some episodes in which they remembered her. And of course she appeared in Alice’s dream.

The campfire

The questions during the campfire … seriously you could see that cheating question coming from a mile away, probably even from ten miles or a hundred. It either could have been this game or spin the bottle the end result would have been just as bad.

Shane says; ‘I don’t think that sex counts as cheating unless it happens more then once.” Did you hear that almost insane laugh of Bette when she said that. Seriously it sounds insane, a really nervous laugh but then again she could probably feel the tread of what was about to happen creep upon her from the deep dark forest behind them.

Someone pointed out that when Tina, Shane and Alice where in Tina’s tent talking about what had just happened. And Shane said; “I never saw that one coming.” They all took a swig from their bottles, all three of them. Now I do not know of course if that was on purpose but it was funny.

I really feel so sorry for Jodi, this never should have happened. But like Alice said there was a lot of cheating going on already in Bette’s past. And I have said it before, Bette is destructive. Each time something good happens she turns it into something bad. Bette loves Tina, Tina loves Bette and well I think that they should be together. As a family like they once wanted to be. But it is like Kit says, Bette does what’s right for Bette and at a moment like that she doesn’t think of other people or their feelings. I know that I am repeating myself but Bette and Tina have been through this with the ‘carpenter gal’ and still they do it to Jodi. And that is just plain cruel.

When female friends talk with each other about their personal problems, the height of the stress hormone cortisol increases in their saliva, especially if women keep hovering over their negative feelings. Psychologists of the university of Missouri-Colombia have demonstrated this.

This research is the first with results that indicate what many females will recognize: not only can female friends support each other with any problems, but also cogitate each other down.

Women do that by having lengthy conversations, encourage each other for having lengthy conversations, summarizing details every so often, speculate about situations and spend a lot of thoughts to how bad they feel. Psychologists call this ‘co-rumination’, ‘cogitate together’. Six years ago this subject appeared for the scientific literature for the first time. Girls and young women do this more often than boys and men. It indicates a strong friendship, but as women worry more often together they run more chance on depression and fears.

For the new research 24 women were invited to come with their best friend; the 48 women were 20 years old on average. Half of the couples were asked to talk about their problems like they would normally do. The other half, the control group, had to devise a new recreation centre together. The women in the problem group, who were (according to the psychologists) co-ruminating, had an increase of cortisol-levels in the saliva within 15 minutes, especially if they were talking about negative feelings. The control group did not have this increase.

Though the psychologists find it not clear what this means for female friendships in which a lot of cogitating is going on, because on the other hand, friendships become stronger by doing this.

My opinion

Cortisol. I have heard that word too many times when I was at college, knowing that whenever that hits the body, it causes stress. I also know that every person deals differently with that feeling, so it is not like every time a person has cortisol in the body, that person will experience sudden fears and depression, but I will not elaborate more about that.

I talk a lot about my problems with other people, because I feel the need to vend my feelings. I am guessing that the creation of cortisol is caused by empathic and feelings of sympathy during the conversation. Women are also supposed to be more empathic than men.

Honestly, if I share my problems with another woman, I tend to do that for a period of a time, let’s say a week, and after that I will stop rambling about it.
I think it would be best if a new research would be set up to research if it matters if they are talking to someone else or just to themselves. Would there also be more cortisol in their saliva if they were writing in their diary for example?

The main question remains: what has more effect, building the friendship, or the risks for anxieties and depressions during cogitating with each other. What if it is fifty-fifty, what would you choose?

‘Liquid heat’ this episode was HOT! In more ways then one; there was hot weather, heated discussions, hot items, raging hormones and hot, hot, hot, hot sex scenes.

‘Liquid heat’ this episode was HOT! In more ways then one; there was hot weather, heated discussions, hot items, raging hormones and hot, hot, hot, hot sex scenes. That makes a ‘hot’ per scene because they all deserved it.

Spoiler warning!

Jenny Shecter

She was freaking out, well this time she had good reason to freak out. No one deserves to be cheated on, and certainly not when you find out that way. That must be excruciating, I actually felt sorry when Jenny had to apologize to the actor boy.

And even that is not the worst thing about it, Adele’s betrayal. Jenny trusts her 100 percent, and she deceves her each and every time but what she did this time is really bad. Kissing Nikki, while pretending to her to be Jenny. That is low, really low even for a clone.

Jodi Lerner and Bette Porter

Bette and Jodi get home to Bette’s house and Jodi steps into the pool clothes on and all. While Bette chooses to undress while she is on the phone with Tina. Then there is of course that scene where Jodi initiates sex with Bette, but Bette declines saying that it is too hot. She then gets up when Jodi asks her what’s going on and she turns her back and says ‘I am in love with Tina’. She is such a coward! She knew exactly that Jodi wouldn’t be able to hear her. And then she blames her mood swings on work. Very cowardly, the least thing that Jodi deserves is being treated like a someone she cares about.

Shane McKutcheon

Shane and her straight girl crush, seriously will there ever be a woman that doesn’t fall for Shane? It is a question that I have wondered about many times.

The She-bar Maffia

Dawn Denbo totally lost her grip on reality especially when she makes the comment about how they could have been great friends … okay, while she has been sabotaging everything ever since her lover Cindi and Shane had sex. She never even for a second doubted her girlfriend but she put all the blame on Shane and took it out on ‘The Planet’ and ‘Lez Girls’. Finally after some bitching over the table from Denbo towards any of the other women Bette gets up and starts negotiation between the two teams and finally gets somewhere. Only the future can show us what will really happen, with Dawn Denbo and her lover Cindi you never know.

Alice Pieszecki

Alice who makes the podcast in which she apologizes to Max, I really liked that cause in my opinion Alice said some pretty fucked up things about Max. The way that Shane was operating the camera was really funny, she was doing everything except for filming what she was supposed to film. I don’t like what Alice said and especially the fact that it was her who said it. I mean bisexual women are frowned upon a lot of times and I am pretty sure that Alice doesn’t like that in fact I remember the comment about looking for ‘the same qualities in a man as in a woman’ in season one. And the male who identified as a lesbian she once dated and this woman makes a comment like that about Max … So I was glad that she did that podcast though I am not really sure if she meant her excuse.

Alice Pieszecki and Tasha Williams

Cute, cute, cute … I know you probably shouldn’t call a ‘Captain’ cute but she is. Especially that laugh of hers and she is so damn sexy! Together with Alice, I think she really makes a great couple and I hope that they will continue to stay a couple although with this show and with Alice you never know.

Shane McKutcheon and Molly Kroll

Phyllis will love this was the first thing I thought when that scene started and by the end of that particular scene we knew just how much she loved it. That scene was hot, like the other sex scenes. I can’t help it I really loved how they showed all of those scenes at the same time. All in the same style going from one over into the other perfectly.

Shane was being a true teacher when she said to Molly that she would show her one more time. And then she saw her mother standing in the door way. That must be your worst nightmare!

And there is Mrs. ‘I-found-out-after-50-something-years-that-I’m-gay’ telling her daughter that she isn’t gay … that is calling the kettle black isn’t it.

Jenny Shecter and Nikki

Their make up sex scene was good too, and it felt a little like pay back that they where doing it right there where earlier that day Jenny found out that Nikki had cheated on her. In a way I guess that it gave Jenny closure to what happened earlier. I think that she really is in love with Nikki.

Tina Kennard and Bette Porter

The self therapy cracked me up in the elevator. It kind of reminded me of the therapy session scene ‘Mr and Mrs Smith’ with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. I am not sure why cause they are not really comparable but that is what it made me think of.

Oh my God! That was extremely hot! That scene in the elevator, at first Bette was being Bette on the verge of a freak out when the elevator stopped. Since I have a light form of claustrophobia I can understand why she freaked especially with the heat. But after she is calmed down and after talking for a while they have steamy hot sex. Doesn’t sex make it even hotter, and wasn’t that the reason why she didn’t want to have sex with Jodi by the pool. I am pretty sure that it was a lot cooler next to the pool then it was in the elevator but that is besides the point.

It was an extremely hot scene, in fact the three/four sex scenes that where showed were all really hot.

I had to laugh when I saw that last scene in the elevator when the lights go on and it starts moving again. The way they where correcting their ruffled clothes and then the scene where they said ‘I love you’ to each other that was cute.

I feel the need to share something I noticed!

Max Sweeney

I feel the need to share something regarding Max Sweeney, this past week after the sex scene with the interpreter guy I read a lot of comments from people online and there is something that bothered me. A lot.

We ‘as gay people’ like to be accepted for who we are. Right? That is always the big issue, isn’t it? Anyway we want to be accepted for what we like but we can’t grant that same respect for someone who has even more screwed up feelings then we have. Apparently not. And that bugs me, it bugs me so much that I really feel the need to post this rant.

Max is a complicated character maybe one of the most complicated on the show. When she came into the show Daniella Sea portrayed a woman who wanted to be a man. Then she started to actually transform to a man and took hormones to achieve the changes that she wanted. Her voice dropped, bulked up, got aggressive and became a real asshole. This season Max has been a far more likable character, at least from my point of view.

The problem is that when you chance the person inside and outside that you get conflicting situations. When she was still Moira she identified as a very tomboyish girl who liked girls. We’ll after the who debacle with the hormones everything got pretty much screwed up and he is now Max. But since he is not getting the surgery done he will always be a boy with girl parts. What does that make you? A freak? Maybe, but still a person. A person who wants to be loved. And who needs love just as much as everyone else. And I think that in this case the fact that the interpreter guy takes him for who he is without caring about the physical stuff is way more important then anything else.

And that is my point, even though we are different we want to be accepted by a straight society but when someone with even more conflicted feelings in an even more fucked up situation which is even more difficult to handle comes along we don’t grant him that same right.

We say that it is all of the sudden weird that he chooses to sleep with a guy. Which is not that weird considering that there was that Billy person last season. It is hormones he has been messing with, that and the fact that for a time he took way too much could have changed a lot of things for him physically as well as mentally. And maybe he does like guys now, so what?

Does that really mean that we need to have to discus ‘how’ he was having sex with the interpreter guy? I don’t think so, he was having sex and he seemed to like it. What is the problem, it was between consenting adults.

It amazes me how we can question transgender people with the exact same questions, straight people question us about. Aren’t we the kind of people that should be open minded and don’t give a damn about those kind of questions?

Let me start this off with saying that it finally has been officially confirmed that there will be a sixth season. It will start on Sunday January fourth 2009.

Okay so as Chantal said I had no internet last week so no chance of posting a review for episode 8. So as promised here is the first part of my review. Like with any other episode I am writing a separate review for both of the episodes.

Let me start this off with saying that it finally has been officially confirmed that there will be a sixth season. It will start on Sunday January fourth 2009. So we have something to look forward to. And with this news finally being confirmed I have to give some of the credits to Paris Hilton. People who have read my other reviews know why I am saying that. Please don’t make me repeat it.

Episode 8 started off weird, it started with that person on the bike breaking and entering and shooting perps. For a couple of seconds I wondered if I was even watching the right show. And then I was afraid that they where again going to add a strange disconnected scene like the one where Kit was robbed. I was glad to see that fortunately it was just a ‘film’ scene.

Spoiler warning!

In general I wanted to say that I am glad that they still remember Dana, even if it is just by mentioning the ‘pink ride’. That is more then you get in most shows where a character dies.

Tina Kennard and Bette Porter

Don’t keep dancing around it, everyone can see it. Bette you have to tell Jodi what the heck is going on. It is unfair, and she deserves better … way better.

Jodi Lerner

By the way you just have to love Jodi for her answer when Bette’s asks her if it ever occurred to her to ask Bette if she could invite Tina. And she just answers flat out ; “No.” That really cracked me up.

You know, the woman doesn’t know what’s going on between Tina and Bette. And the fact that she still doesn’t know after that excruciating Moroccan dinner party is almost unbelievable. Of course she can’t hear but the looks that shot over the table between Tina and Bette where so obvious.

I feel sorry for the woman, I like her and for her to be kept in the dark like that. It feels really unfair and I know that sounds weird because I want to see Bette and Tina back together so badly. A lot of things on the show somehow manage to pull me into two opposite directions.

Shane McKutcheon

Shane at the comment from ‘Movie Shane’ that she sleeps with everyone; “Please, who told you that.” In a very surprised voice … that coming from the person who has been around the block more then once sounds a bit weird.

Kit Porter

Kit Porter, we haven’t seen a lot from her this season. And at this moment every other word that comes out of her mouth is ‘she-bitches’.

Jenny Shecter

The snot rant, that was so flat out Jenny again. What can you say, everything has to be just like Jenny wants it or it won’t happen at all. Directing the movie shows that in every way, and I feel for Tina because she has to put up with all of Jenny’s shit, and that is a lot. You might wonder if Tina ever gets anything else done besides trying to keep Jenny happy and trying to keep everything in order.

I do have to say that I felt sorry for Jenny when she found out that Nicky had cheated on her. No one deserves that, not Jodi and not even Jenny. It is cruel and hurtful.

Alice Pieszecki and Tasha Williams

The first day Alice just sat there until they told her that there was no time to interview her that day and was requested to come back the next day. Unbelievable the way people are being treated when it comes to these kind of things.

Alice took a gamble when she started to tell them what she thought of the situation. Alice was right with what she said of course, about the whole ‘knowing one lesbian so you must be a lesbian’ speech. It just doesn’t seem like the way to go in a situation like this. But the angry reaction of that Davis’ woman showed that she was on the right track. Maybe she should introduce her to Joyce or Phyllis.

But the moment that Tasha came running out of the courthouse with that huge grin and that funny jump when she turned to look at Alice. The world seemed a little brighter at that moment, a happier place.

So I am a girl, but not the girly kind of girl that squeals a lot. But seriously, that last scene where came running out of court with that huge grin on her face saying that she had won. Totally made me squeal! I loved it!!! I was so happy when that happened, it was such an endearing and sweet moment. That scene was just perfect; especially because it was in that military setting, and they both didn’t give a shit about the people around them. Anyway just thinking about that scene makes me want to squeal again. I loved it!

With 62% of the votes, the absolute deserving winner, Dutch Idol 2008 is...

Ladies and Gentlemen, it has been a long and entertaining ride and we finally arrived at the finals. Nikki and Nathalie are the two ladies left to battle for that title of new Dutch Idol 2008.

Tonight the lovely ladies will be singing a duet, a song with an artist, their own personal favorite from past shows and the new original that one of these ladies gets to bring out on single.

The Perfomances

Nikki & Nathalie (Queen of the Night - Whitney Houston) (duet)
Now that was one heck of an opening. Both did a great job. Truly entertaining. I do believe that there was a tiny mishap with Nathalie, either she forgot a bit of text or the microphone cut away, or it was just one heck of a bad bit in the song.

Nathalie (BeeGees - Staying Alive) (favorite own performance)
The girl knows how to give a performance, absolutely. I hate the damn song.

Nikki (Hello World) (original song)
Well okay, it’s got that nice pop rock sound and some other stuff in between as well. How someone is able to sing and dance like that is beyond me. Absolutely fantastic.

Nathalie (Makoma Band - Ola Ole)
I am not quite sure what to do with this. Weren’t we supposed to have them sing original songs, their favorite, a duet and a song with a dutch artist? I don’t dislike the music, but I just was not sure what to think of that and what the meaning of this is.

Trijntje Oosterhuis, Nikki and Nathalie (Patti LaBelle - On My Own) (trio)
Perfect arrangement. Every time Nikki does a softer song, her voice does something that cuts through your soul. Nathalie was perfect here as well and Trijntje just finished it. Beautiful.

Nikki (Inside Out )
I guess everyone got their own little moment. Well I’m not that big of a fan of Gospel Choirs but this might change my mind, just a tiny little bit, and only if Nikki sings with the Choir. Great performance, fantastic voice.

Nathalie (Hello World) (original song)
Okay, I definitely liked Nikki’s version of the song better. I like Nathalie, don’t get me wrong, but this is just more a Nikki song then a song for Nathalie. I’m not quite sure what to think of it exactly.

Nikki (Tina Turner - River Deep, Mountain High)(favorite own performance)
Absolutely fantastic! This is in my top 4 of Nikki performances and I am definitely glad that she chose this song. According to one of the judges she had a tiny slip up when she drew a tiny blank, but she picked it up so good that I did not even notice it.

A ratings low for the Oscars, South of Nowhere Canceled, Britney Spears still doing okay and more

South of Nowhere canceled

You’ve probably heard the rumor floating around these past couple of days, and yes the rumor is true. The N officially came out (no pun intended) and confirmed that Souh of Nowhere has been canceled.

“Things change. It doesn’t always seem good, but change they do. South of Nowhere has been a great journey. A show like this could not have existed ten years ago on youth oriented television or any television for that matter. But exist it does, because things change. I have loved my experience with The N for having the courage and vision to air South. I love the fans for allowing me to tell real stories about their lives. I love all of the producers, writers, directors, and crew who took the series into their hearts and participated in SON as more than a ‘job’.

I love the cast and how they dimensionalized the characters and created real people that you as fans could relate to and feel for as they reflected your own lives. I especially love Spashley. The name you gave to the two lead characters. To be able to create a show called ‘Excellent,’ ‘groundbreaking’ and ‘impossible to resist’ is rare. To create a show that touches the hearts and lives of a generation is a gift. Thank you for allowing me and Spashley into your hearts. And remember, things change, so there’s no telling where the stories of Spashley will show up next.” - Tom Lynch (creator)

Since its start in November 2005, South Of Nowhere gained a loyal fan base, numerous fan sites, artwork, fan fiction and even an Appreciation Convention.

The show has conquered various subjects, ranging from homophobia to even High School shootings and has helped numerous teens come out and even helped adults with children who are gay. Some even wished that a show like South of Nowhere had been around when they were children themselves. One of the rumored reason for the series’ demise is that the network (The N) is still too green and too scared to take on issues like sexuality. Which, in my opinion, is a load of bull. If that was the case they should have canceled the show long before. Let’s not forget to mention that the N’s executive is a gay man who also had an extremely difficult time coming out

It did not take long before fans were rallied up and a Save Spashley site was created at www.savespashley.com.

The Oscars: a record low, in more ways then one

“The 80th anniversary edition of the Academy Awards, dominated by European stars and films that played poorly at the box office, averaged 32 million viewers, entering the record books on Monday as the least watched Oscar telecast ever.”

The show was down a million or so from the last record low (33 million), set in 2003 when the Oscars were presented just after the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq had begun.

Not only was it the least watched Oscar telecast ever, it was also the most blooper worthy. Actor Brad Renfro was snubbed at the Academy Awards when organizers left him out of the montage of stars that had died the past year. Renfro was found dead in his apartment from a drug overdose, but was overlooked from the 98 industry people on the list that included everyone from actors and directors to public relations people

A statement from the Motion Picture Academy of America claims, “It is simply not possible to include everyone in that segment.” What? They couldn’t have added one more on that list of 98? Load of bull. Which is also what a close friend of Renfro said “It’s unbelievable and disgusting.”

Not only that, but Whoopi Goldberg was left out of was left out of a montage of great moments from past shows, which ran throughout Sunday night’s Academy Awards ceremony. Here she is talking about it on The Look The View.

Getting better a little every day

Britney Spears has spent another three hours with her young sons after they were driven to her Hollywood Hills home by their father’s bodyguard on Monday.

Mark Vincent Kaplan, Kevin Federline’s attorney, speculated about an official long-term reunion. “These visitations with the boys will help to normalize the family environment. Kevin has always been rooting for Britney to regain visitation. If these visits go well, they will ramp up over time.”

Reports suggest Spears and her lawyers are hoping to get visitation up to three times a week. The singer and Federline will be back in court for a custody hearing on April 9.

Meanwhile, Brit Brit’s sister, pregnant Jamie Lynn Spears, has picked up a General Educational Development diploma with high marks for reading comprehension. The 16-year-old actress sister of Britney Spears is now considering her college options, according to reports. A source tells People.com the Zoey 101 star is looking to take a college entrance test, telling the site, “She’s not wasting any time. People don’t know her. When she gets something in her head, she’ll make it happen. Everybody is so supportive of her.”

Heath Ledger’s Doctors Under Investigation

Two of late actor Heath Ledger’s doctors are being probed by U.S. Authorities. They are trying to determine whether the prescription drugs that killed the actor were given to him illegally. Heath Accidentally overdosed on powerful painkillers, anti-anxiety pills and sleeping pills — all of which had been prescribed to him. The investigation is centered on a doctor in California and a doctor in Texas, who are believed to have supplied the actor with Oxycontin and Vicodin.

There has been no suggestion the doctors acted improperly - but officials hope to clear up any suggestion of illegal activity. A source tells the New York Daily News, “It’s an ongoing investigation. It’s not clear if there is any wrongdoing.”

Before we forget

Since Angelique has had some Provider problems and has had no Internet connection for the past week, she’ll be posting a double review of The L Word next Wednesday.

Just one more day and we will finally know who takes the crowned and is the new Dutch Idol; Nikki or Nathalie? Be sure to check back Saturday evening to see who won!

Some looked absolutely fabulous and some, well let's just say they had a bad styling night.

Now that the Oscars have come and gone, it is time to take a look at what the stars were wearing for the night. Some looked absolutely fabulous and some, well let’s just say they had a bad styling night.

No men allowed in this little article, it’s a suit and bow tie for most of them anyway.

Let’s start with Jessica Alba (I almost wrote Album don’t know why). She wore a pretty little thing , were it not for the damn feathers. Feathers are a definite fashion no no in my eyes. The color suits her and she looked radiant, but that could be the ‘mom to be’ glow.

Cate Blanchett in a Dries Van Noten. Her jewelry is by Lorraine Schwartz. No No No, what was she thinking with the necklace, or whatever it is that thing she’s wearing around her neck. That beautiful dress could have done without it. A more elegant Princess or Matinee necklace would have sufficed and I could have done without the print or whatever it is that’s going on down there.

Anne Hathaway wore a red Marchesa gown with rose detailed one-shoulder strap. Take away the damn roses, loosen up that hair and it’ll be picture perfect (really Anne, loosen up that hair, you’re much prettier that way)
