Jamie Lynn Spears, younger sister of train wreck Britney Spears, has confirmed to OK! Magazine that she’s pregnant. Keep in mind that she’s only 16. Jamie Lynn Spears is the star of the Nickelodeon shows “Zoey 101” and “All That”, so she is probably someone that young children look up to. The father of her child is Casey Aldridge, her boyfriend that she met at church. According to the article on tmz.com, she has yet to tell her older sister.

Nickelodeon issued the following statement:

“We respect Jamie Lynn’s decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn’s well being.”

Wow, kids get started early these days! I mean, yes, I did go to high school with girls who had gotten knocked up, but this is different. You would think that she could afford birth control if she’s a Nickelodeon star! When children (yes, at 16 you’re still a child) get pregnant, people often argue over who’s to blame. “Blame the parents!” some people will say. I disagree. At age 16, although you are still a child, you are educated enough to know what will get you pregnant and you should know prevention methods, such as the pill and condoms. If you neglect to do this, it’s just your own damn fault if you get preggers.

In my opinion, though, speaking from sheer experience, you shouldn’t be having sex at age 16 anyway. I personally recall first being sexually active right after I turned 16, and I was too much of a child to deal with the consequences. Yes, we did use protection, but sometimes that fails anyway. I can’t imagine what I would have done had I have gotten pregnant. Currently I have a 15 year old sister, and although she is very mature, she’s still a child. I just hope that she’s a lot smarter than I was at that age.

In the whole Jamie Lynn Spears situation, I really feel sorry for the unborn child. But who am I to say that the child is automatically screwed for life already? That would be rather judgmental of me. I wish the younger Spears the best, and I hope she’s a better mother than her sister is! Maybe at least one of the Spears’ sisters can get it right!

Lil’ Brit Brit is Pregnant; Jamie Lynn Spears, 16 (!), announced the news in OK! Magazine.

“It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected,” Lil’ Brit Brit tells OK! Magazine in their new issue. “I was in complete and total shock and so was he.” The he is question being her 19-year-old boyfriend Casey Aldridge , her live-in boyfriend.

Jamie Lynn initially kept the news secret from friends and family for two weeks; she did a home test and when she got confirmation from the doctor, Jamie Lynn had to “work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone’s opinion affect my decision. Then I told my parents and my friends. I was scared, but I had to do what was right for me.”

Mama Spears got the news just before Thanksgiving and couldn’t believe her ‘already grandma of two’ ears. she tells OK! Magazine; “I didn’t believe it because Jamie Lynn’s always been so conscientious. She’s never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby.” Well believe it Lynn; you’re gonna be a grandma for the third time.

Jamie Lynn plans to raise her child in her home state of Louisiana so it can “have a normal family life”.

Let’s hope at least one of the Spears Clan gets the job done right.
