Heath Ledger Dies at 28

Heath Ledger, 28, was found dead in a Lower Manhattan apartment. Police spokesman Paul Browne said that “This is being looked at as a possible overdose, but that is not confirmed yet.” Though sleeping pills and other prescription medication were found nearby Heath’s body, the untimely death of the young and talented actor remains a mystery still; the autopsy performed on Heath’s body was inconclusive and the wait is now on the Toxicology report, which is due back in two weeks.

The Police said there was no suicide note and they did not suspect foul play.

Kim Ledger, Heath’s father, spoke to reporters in their home country, Australia, a day after his son’s death; asking for privacy and to let his family grieve. Though he has not appeared on camera since, Kim Ledger and his family (Heath’s mother, and two sisters) wrote touching tributes in the Friday edition of the West Australian newspaper.

“How do we describe our sudden and tragic loss? … You were the most amazing individual “old soul” in a young man’s body.You so loved us, as we dearly loved you. As a close knit and very private family unit we have observed you so determined yet quietly traveling in your self-styled path in life, nothing would get in your way … no mountain too tall, no river too wide.

You dreamed your dreams and lived them with passion and intelligent commitment. We have been privileged to accompany you on a ride through life that has simply been amazing and through it all, we have loved each other beyond imagination.

Your true legacy lives on in beautiful little Matilda, who will always remain in the greatest of care. Our hearts are broken . . . Dad and Ines, Mum and Roger, Kate and Nathan, Rori and Scarlett, Ashleigh, Olivia, Elana and Nadia.”

Michelle Williams, mother of Heath’s 2-year-old daughter Matilda, arrived in Brooklyn Wednesday night from Trollhattan, Sweden, where she was on location shooting the upcoming film Mammoth. Clutching her 2-year-old tight against her she rushed inside the house where her mother and her best friend Busy Phillips were reportedly waiting for her and is said to be “devastated” and “in her own world” after hearing of Heath’s untimely death.

Since Thursday dozens of photographers have gathered outside the funeral parlor where Heath’s body was taken and where a private viewing for family and friends will be held. Ledger’s family and Michelle Williams are said to be amongst those expected.

The funeral home and the Australian consulate in New York declined to comment on Friday, saying it was a private matter. After the viewing, Heath’s family will be taking his body back home to Perth, Australia.

She finally went to rehab.. Yes, Yes, Yes

In a move that was long overdue, troubled singer Amy Winehouse finally checked herself into rehab. After photographs of Amy smoking crack were published in the U.K. earlier this week her record label Universal, her management, family members and doctors called a meeting last Thursday with Amy.

A statement from Universal reveals that Amy’s rehab stint is a bid to help her kick her drug dependence in time to appear at the Grammy Awards in Lost Angeles on February 10th.

“Amy Winehouse’s planned appearance at the NRJ Awards in France on Saturday has been canceled as the artist has entered a rehabilitation clinic. Amy decided to enter the facility today after talks with her record label, management, family and doctors. She has come to understand that she requires specialist treatment to continue her ongoing recovery from drug addiction and prepare for her planned appearance at the Grammy Awards. Amy entered the facility by mutual agreement and continues to receive the full support of all concerned.

Amy is the most talented and important musical artist of her generation and has made huge strides on her road to recovery. Universal Music Group wants nothing more than to see her take the time she needs to come back to full health and fulfill her incredible potential with the label. All concerned feel that Amy must put her health before all other considerations and will be by her side whenever and wherever they are needed.”

Most talented and important musical artist of her generation? Eh? She is perhaps ONE of them, but most certainly not THE most important and talented.

Britney Spears’ Thursday Night Drama

After months of craziness it seems that Brit Brit may have finally gone bonkers! The Police Department and Fire Department have been called to the house after she refused to hand over her children to K-Fed after Court’s Orders.

The drama got so out of hand that the cops and fire department were called to help. The showdown laster four hours and K-Fed, and all the legal representatives showed up. Britney was found to be under the influence of some sort of substance and has been taken to UCLA Medical Center.

Now let’s hope she finally gets the help she needs and until she is fully able to function again they keep the kids away. This has already gone way to far. Maybe now everyone is getting the wake-up call they need and force that women to undergo treatment even if it means a court order to do so.

Miley Cyrus involved in faux lesbian photoshoot

As the latest teen starlet that is caught in a scandal, Miley Cyrus has defended a photoshoot in which she is seen ‘rolling around’ with a female companion. The faux lesbian shoot received a storm of criticism for the Hanna Montana star when the pictures, containing Miley and a friend rolling around on a hotel room floor and sharing a piece of candy, were leaked onto the Internet were deemed to have inappropriate sexual undertones.

The teenager hit back at the pictures, claiming them to be “innocent” and that there is nothing erotic about them. “They’re nothing bad! It’s not something I’m going to let slide. I’m really upset about it, ’cause it was, like, not even a big deal. That’s one of my best friends. I have all these girls who I hang out with all the time. It’s two girls at a sleepover, and if all of a sudden that’s bad, then what is the world coming to?”

Sure, for Miley’s preteen fans it may be a bit of a shock, but what is the big deal? It is just two girls having a bit of fun at a sleep over and took picture of it. It is not like they’re doing the naked kind of sleepover.

On another little note, I have absolutely nothing with the whole tween generation, it is all to bubbly and happy for me, but I am kinda digging Miley’s song ‘See You Again’. Have a listen to it.

Daniel Radcliffe to play Slain Photographer

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is set to appear as photographer Dan Eldon in Journey, a film about the civil war in Somalia.

Dan Eldon was one of four journalists stoned to death by a mob in 1993. The photographer was there to film the aftermath of an attack, led by United States forces, on what was believed to be where Mohammed Farah Aidid’s Habar Gedir clan were meeting to plot against U.S and U.N. forces.

Eldon’s mother, Kathy Eldon, believes Daniel Radcliffe is the perfect choice for the role. “We resisted a lot of older actors because Dan was a boy emerging into manhood.”

Spears’ Lawyer Demands to Quit

It seems that the fallen Princess of Pop can’t seem to catch a break even in the New Year. Four days in and the troubled mom of two is already having major problems (in addition to the ones she already had); the lawyer that represents Britney Spears in her child custody case has ‘dramatically’ asked to quit due to a communication problem with the troubled singer.

Gee, you didn’t figure that out before? She’s been having communication problems with everyone, even herself.

Sorrel Trope of family law firm Trope and Trope has worked for Spears since September in her battle against ex-husband Kevin Federline for the custody of their two sons. A representative explains: “There has been a breakdown in communications between (Spears) and Trope and Trope making further representation of her interests impossible.”

It is still unclear whether or not Spears has a new lawyer lined up to take over, but Trope can’t leave just yet. He has a duty to represent the singer for the time being while Trope has asked to be relieved, “which will be heard (in court) within a month’s time.”

25 Worst Movie Remakes has a few surprises

AOL/Moviefone offered their 25 worst movie remakes, and it sported quite a few surprises. The first one they had up on the list already had me scratching my head and pondering why. It was not that bad of a remake.

Rob Zombie’s Halloween; sure, it needs work, sure the main characters could have done better, but especially young Michael Meyers (played by Daeg Faerch) did quite a good job. The only real problem I had with the movie was the overly done family problems. Poseidon was also another surprise. I found it highly entertaining. Then again I am a huge fan of disaster movies. So far none have failed in my book.

Though AOL/Moviefone missed the ball a few times, in other cases they were quite right. I am never going to get back the hours I missed watching Swept Away, and Meet Joe Black.

Don’t Miss Your Call

There are not a lot of movies I am looking forward too in 2008, except perhaps the new Jodie Foster flick Nim’s Island, but recently I have seen these ads pop up on various sites. They feature a head where the eyes consist of two mouths and that just totally freaks me out. The movie is called One Missed Call and the trailer freaks me out. It stars Shannyn Sossamon, Edward Burns and Azura Skye in a remake of the 2003 Japanese horror movie Chakushin Ari.

The story revolves around people getting voice messages from their future selves; messages that tell them the date, time and sometimes other details of their deaths.
