Top 10 Tattooed Male Celebrities

Tattoos, in my opinion, are amazing. I have 4 of them myself and I’m craving more. I feel that the body is a canvas in need of color and meaning, just as a painting does. I mean, sure, you can get tattoos with no meaning at all, but they are a lot better, in my opinion, if they have some sort of meaning behind them, whether or not it’s a deep meaning or not.

But, have you ever thought about celebrity tattoos?

Ever since I started dating, I’ve thought tattooed guys were hot. Probably even before then. So here’s my list of the top 10 tattooed male celebrities. I based my judging on mainly creativity of the tattoos; the fact that most of these guys are smokin’ hot is merely coincidence. Just because a guy is hot and has a tattoo, doesn’t mean he made the list!

10. Alex Band (The Calling, lead singer)

—Alex Band has one tattoo that I’ve seen but I love it nonetheless. It’s a kokopelli, tattooed interestingly enough on the inside of his left wrist. A kokopelli is a Native American fertility deity that is said to be in charge of both childbirth and agriculture. It’s a beautiful, simple design.

9. Marilyn Manson (singer)

—Love him or hate him, he does have some fabulous ink on his body. He’s got tattoos along each arms, each one just as scary as he is! The color in the tattoos is magnificent, and the detail in the face on his left forearm is just amazing.

8. Scott Stapp (Creed, lead singer)

—I couldn’t do this list without mentioning Creed lead singer Scott Stapp. Sure, make fun of me for liking Creed if you will, but this is the man who first made me see how great tattoos look on men. The main tattoo I remember him having is a cross with his band’s name above it. Sure, it’s not the most original idea, but I couldn’t leave him out of this list!

7. Ville Valo (HIM, lead singer)

—Ville Valo’s full tribal sleeve is amazing, but what caught my eye were his eyes. No, not the ones on his face, but the ones on his back. He has the eyes of writer Edgar Allen Poe on his back! They are extremely detailed and well-crafted. They look almost like a photograph.

6. Bam Margera (Pro Skateboarder, MTV star)

—I’ve always been a big fan of Bam Margera’s two heart-a-gram tattoos. I love the one on his stomach right below his beltline, but the intricate nature of the one on his side is beautiful as well. He also has the words “Sigilum Diaboli” on his chest, which means “Devil’s Seal” in latin.

5. Johnny Depp

—We all know that Johnny Depp is one of the most handsome actors, according to most women. But have you ever noticed his many tattoos? The tattoo of his that I love the most is the sparrow over a sea and sunset with the name “Jack” beneath on his forearm. I’m guessing it is a reference to his character in the Pirates of the Carribean trilogy, but I could be wrong. Another interesting tattoo that has has are the words “Wino Forever” on his bicep, which used to say “Winona Forever” when he dated Winona Ryder. Just another example of why you don’t get lover’s names on your skin!

4. Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy, bassist)

—I love the fact that Pete Wentz is covered in very creatively designed tattoos. My favorite one of his that has put him so high on the list is his clandestine bat, which is just below the beltline. It’s very unique, and the placement is downright sexy!

3. Brandon Boyd (Incubus, lead singer)

—I love Brandon Boyd’s red tattoos on his arms. They’re so individual and unique, you don’t see many solid color tattoos unless they are solid black. He also has solid black tattoos, such as the eye with wings on his upper back. His arm tattoos include a Tibetian Buddist mantra, “Om Mani Padme Hum”.

2. Tommy Lee (Motley Crue, drummer)

—I can’t just look at one tattoo on Tommy Lee and say “Yes, that’s the tattoo that makes the man.” His black tribal back piece is amazing, though. I also love the stars tattooed on both of his hands. Classic ‘bad boy’!

1. Anthony Kiedis (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lead singer.).

—Anthony Kiedis has many tribal-inspired tattoos, but the one that made him my #1 tattooed male celebrity is his upper back piece. It’s a Haida stylized eagle with a demon face. He also has tattoos on his arms that are entwined, symbolizing love.

Top 10 Tattooed Female Celebrities

Thirty-six percent of those ages 18-29 have at least one tattoo, states a poll from the year 2003. I can only assume that this has increased since then. I personally have 4 tattoos and am currently jonesing for more. I think that once you get one, you’re addicted!

Many celebrity women have tattoos as well. These are my top 10 tattooed female celebrities. I judged the celebrities on the creativity and uniqueness of their tattoos.

10. Courtney Love

—Whether or not you think she killed Kurt Cobain, her tattoos are quite nice. They are a little on the more tame side, but they are still nice nonetheless. Her fairy tattoo is very unique to her, and I love the flourishes that are added above it, they really make the tattoo ‘pop’. Her floral ankle bracelets are also very nice.

9. Mia Tyler (Model and daughter of Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler)

—Mia’s tattoos are all mainly concentrated in her sleeve on her right arm. I know that many people have fairy tattoos, but hers seems a lot more individual to me. I also like the small heart that she has on her chest, it’s wild but still remains classy at the same time.

8. Jessica Alba (actress)

—I’m not sure about Jessica Alba’s acting skills because I can’t recall any movie that she’s been in, but I love one of her tattoos. This may be because I am partial to the lotus flower, but she has the sanskrit symbol for the lotus flower on one of her wrists. It’s very sharp and well-defined, and that’s nice to have in a tattoo.

7. Christina Ricci (actress)

—Christina’s tattoos are varied, ranging from the lion from the books about Narnia (Aslan) to praying hands on her hip. I don’t usually like tattoos on the breasts, but she pulls off a black and blue sparrow on her right breast very tastefully. I also love her tattoo that goes across her ribcage on one side that says “Move or Bleed” because I’m sure it holds some sort of deeper meaning to her, and the script of the words is very elegant.

6. Angelina Jolie (actress)

—Angelina seems to be everyone’s #1 tattooed celebrity these days. I choose her for my #6, but this doesn’t mean her tattoos aren’t totally fabulous. I’ve always loved the Latin quote she has tattooed, “Quod me nutrit me destruit”, which translates to “What nourishes me destroys me”. Her more recent tattoos show the longitude and latitude of where she adopted children Maddox, Zahara and Pax, and where Shilo was born. I love that she has a very important aspect of her life, her family, tattooed on her body.

5. Melanie C. (former ‘Sporty Spice’ of The Spice Girls)

—Melanie C’s tattoos are colorful and individual, and each one seems to have a different meaning behind it. Two of her tattoos stick out in my mind. First, she has a very brightly colored dragon on her right calf that looks very well thought out and is extremely detailed. Second is her lotus tattoo, which although it’s not very detailed, it looks very crisp and clean.

4. Drew Barrymore (actress)

—Drew Barrymore’s tattoos are very different from each other, but they all keep a sexy, feminine form. I especially like the butterfly she has directly beneath her bellybutton. Her tattoos seemingly remind me of mine, because despite the fact that they are all completely different, they all maintain their femininity and that’s important to me.

3. Tila Tequila (MTV reality show star)

—The main reason I love Tila’s tattoos is their placement. They look really nice on her, and all of them also seem to be original designs. My favorite tattoo of hers is the winged heart with a musical note in it on her right bicep. I love the femininity of them all as well.

2. Pink (singer)

—Pink has many tattoos, each one just as unique as she is. I might not care much for her music, but her tattoos are very beautiful and original. Her black and gray guardian angel tattoo on her left shoulder blade is very pretty, and her kanji tattoos are very fitting. I also like that she has her brother and father’s dog tags from the army tattooed around her ankle. Family is a great reason to get tattooed!

1. Kat Von D (tattoo artist, reality TV star)

—By far the most tattooed woman on the list, Kat Von D not only has tattoos but is an amazing tattoo artist as well. My sister and I both agree that she is one of the few people who can pull off having stars tattooed on their face, and they look absolutely stunning on her. Another favorite tattoo of mine that she has is the “Hollywood” right below her bellybutton. It’s a great, inventive place for a tattoo and I love that she is representing the place where she came from!
