Top Ten Unforgettable Movie Songs
The scene is described as the most famous “goose bump-inducing” dancing scene in movie history; the end dance in Dirty Dancing, set to Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes’ (’I've Had) The Time Of My Life.
Every time I hear that song I can see the entire scene played out in my head.
The songs on this list are all visual inducing song. From boats sinking to deadly deceases to war casualties. They’re all memorable.
01. (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life - Bill Medley / Jennifer Warnes (Dirty Dancing)
Ah, yes Dirty Dancing. The movie that made even me think I wanted to be Patrick Swayze’s dancing partner. The movie that brought one of the best movie lines ever (“Nobody puts Baby in a corner.”), follows it with one of the best movie songs ever. When Patrick and Jennifer are on that stage doing their thing; makes you wish you were up there.
02. Kiss From A Rose - Seal (Batman Forever)
I don’t have much with the entire Batman series, but this song by Seal is just perfect. The voice, the feel. Not to mention he gets to go home to Heidi Klum. He probably sung it to her a couple of times too.
03. I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing - Aerosmith (Armageddon)
Powerful song. I am usually not much into Aerosmith, but in combination with the thought of this film it simply rocks!
04. Don’t You Forget About Me - Simple Minds (The Breakfast Club)
Five of the Brat Pack members in a movie that undoubtedly stands in the top five in a teen movie list. A brain, and an athlete and a basket case, a princess and a criminal… finding out that there is more to them and each other then their respective stereotypes.
05. Because You Loved Me - Celine Dion (Up Close & Personal)
I bawled my eyes out when I first saw that movie and every time I hear or see that song my breath hitches a little, my eyes get moist and I can barely keep my tears in.
06. My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion (Titanic)
Reaching number one in more then twenty countries; ‘My Heart Will Go On’ is Celine’s biggest hit and one of the best selling songs in history. Not to mention it is the theme song for the highest grossing film of all time, Titanic.
07. (Everything I Do) I Do It For You - Bryan Adams (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves)
When the film company tried at length to have Adams change the melody of the song and Adams refused, the song ended up buried under the end credits. People should learn not to doubt the genius; the single entered the charts at number one in many countries.
08. I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston (Bodyguard)
Before little Miss Whitney substituted real food with white powder she could actually belt out a song or two, or three, or four. Okay she’s given us more then a couple of hits. Reaching the number one spot in over 10 countries; this soulful rendition of Dolly Parton’s song showcases Whitney’s powerful voice and tops almost every list of top love songs.
09. It Must Have Been Love - Roxette (Pretty Woman)
Who doesn’t love Pretty Woman? It’s every girl’s dream to be swept off their feet like Julia Roberts in this movie. Roxette is known for their powerful rockish ballads and this one is just that.
10. Streets of Philadelphia - Bruce Springsteen (Philadelphia)
A slow, mournful but melodic song about life with Aids. That is pretty much all there is to say. Gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.
